A dynamo-electric machine formed by providing a stator (2) so as to surround an outer circumference of a rotary shaft (1), and mounting a pair of rotors (3N, 3S) integrally on the portions of the rotary shaft (1) which are on both sides of the stator (2); and a generator and a motor which use this dynamo-electric machine. One rotor (3N) is provided with magnetic poles of an N-polarity, and the other rotor (3S) the same number of magnetic poles of an S-polarity, the magnetic poles of these rotors being arranged at equiangular intervals so that the magnetic poles of these rotors are opposed to each other in the axial direction of the rotary shaft (1). The stator (2) has twice as many cores as the number of the magnetic poles provided on one rotor, magnetic poles formed at both ends of these cores, and coils wound around the cores, the magnetic poles at both ends of the cores being arranged at equiangular intervals so that these magnetic poles are opposed to the magnetic poles of the rotors via air clearances. Owing to this construction, the magnetic poles of the rotor (3N, 3S) can be formed into flat surfaces, so that a magnetic flux can be set uniform. Moreover, the axial length of the stator (2) can be reduced, and this enables an iron loss and leakage magnetic flux to decrease.
