PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video display device capable of selectively displaying the desired part of a video more brightly in projecting a video to a screen by using a projector. SOLUTION: The video display device for projecting the video to the screen by using the projector is provided with the screen having many light emitting members arranged in nearly grating shape on its surface, the projector for optically projecting video information to the screen from a recording medium in which the video information is recorded, a high lightness part detection means for detecting the part of the video having higher lightness than a preset threshold from the recording medium in which the video information is recorded, and a light emission control means for making the light emitting member on the screen equivalent to a part designated by the high lightness part detection means emit the light.
