PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor which is used for image forming apparatus, such as a copying machine, a facsimile, and a printer, and has high sensitivity. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic photoreceptor is provided with, on a conductive base body, a photosensitive layer containing at least a charge generation agent, an electron transport agent, and a binder resin, wherein the electron transport agent is a compound expressed by general formula (I). In the formula, X represents bivalent to quadrivalent groups having a structure obtained by removing 2 to 4 hydrogen atoms from different carbon atoms of a saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon, bivalent to quadrivalent groups having a structure obtained by removing 2 to 4 hydrogen atoms bonded to the ring of an aromatic hydrocarbon, a phenylene dioxy group, an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom, or a mere bond; R<SB>1</SB>to R<SB>4</SB>are the same or different groups, and represent alkyl groups, alkoxy groups, halogen atoms, alkyl halide groups, hydrogen atoms, or aryl groups which may have substituents; A represents an oxygen atom or a carbon atom having at least either of a cyano group and alkoxycarbonyl group; n represents an integer from 2 to 4.
