<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem that in exposure control of an imaging apparatus, when a period of vertical scanning is extended and extension of an exposure time is possible in succession to the exposure time reaching the upper limit, frame rate is very affected so as to be lowered. <P>SOLUTION: When a subject is dark, first an exposure time E is increased up to the upper limit Emax with the vertical scanning period V as a standard value Vst (P60) and then a gain<SB>α</SB>of an AGC circuit is increased (P62). When the image is still dark even if the gain<SB>α</SB>has reached the upper limit value<SB>α</SB>max, the vertical scanning period V is switched to extended value Vex and the exposure time E can further be extended (P64). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
