A system and a method for recommending music are provided to classify songs on the basis of representative melodies to improve the reliability of a song classification result and recommend songs suitable for the taste of a user based on the classification result and user preference. A system(200) for recommending music includes a sound source classification unit, a sound source storage unit(230), a preference analysis unit(250), a user information storage unit(240), and a music recommendation unit(260). The sound source classification unit determines a region including a phrase having the highest waveform concentration and a predetermined number of phrases following the phrase, which is detected from sound source data, as a representative melody, and generates sound source data information including the genre to which the sound source data belongs based on the tempo of the sound source data and the representative melody. The sound source storage unit stores the sound source data. The preference analysis unit presents test songs to a user and generates music preference information of the user based on the response of the user. The user information storage unit stores user information including the age and sex of the user and the music preference information. The music recommendation unit generates a recommended music list including sound sources corresponding to the user information based on the sound source data information and provides the recommended music list to a user terminal. |
