<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate troublesomeness in a program reservation method using a bar code. <P>SOLUTION: A display control means causes a television receiver to display program contents from information taken from the outside by an input means in a list form as shown in the figure, and a position designation means and a setting means are operated on this screen, thereby completing reservation only by selecting desired program contents. In this way, since there is no need to scan a bar code by a bar code reader before making program reservation, the troublesomeness in which the bar code cannot be read by repeated scanning is eliminated. Further, the contents are displayed in a list form, the desired program can be set while being compared with programs in front-and-rear and right-and-left. Therefore, if some programs have quite similar names, erroneous reservation caused by misapprehension hardly occurs. Also, there is not only no need for setting a channel but also no time and effort for inputting a start time unlike a technique before a bar code reader.
