PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crash astern control method of a marine speed reduction reverser, capable of quickly stopping a ship, while avoiding an engine stall by control of a boost compensator, when performing crash astern. SOLUTION: When stopping the ship in advance sailing, a forward-backward advance switching valve 13 is switched to a backward advance position from a forward advance position, and is determined that the crash astern is performed for pressing a hydraulic piston 2 of a backward advance clutch 12, and an actual engine speed of a diesel engine E from an engine speed sensor Ea is reduced, and when determining that its actual engine speed is lower than a target engine speed, engine stall avoiding control is performed by a release of an adjustment of a fuel injection quantity corresponding to boost pressure by the boost compensator and a change in an annealing processing time constant for the purpose of increasing a control response speed of the diesel engine.
