PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide of a transmission select return device having reduced manufacturing cost by reducing the number and weight of parts. SOLUTION: The select return device 20 for returning an operating shaft 11 turned to a select direction into a neutral position N comprises a select return housing 21 having a cylinder portion 21a fixed to the operating shaft extending to the radial direction, a piston member 22 slidably supported by the cylinder portion and having a cam follower 23 at the front end, a cam plate 25 turnably supported by the operating shaft extending to the radial direction, having an opening for storing the cylinder portion, and put in engagement with the casing 10 in a relatively non-turnable manner, and a spring 24 for energizing the piston member 22 outward to elastically thrust the cam follower against a cam face 26a formed on part of the opening.
