PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steer-by-wire system having an excellent mountability to a vehicle capable of turning a steered wheel according to an operation of a steering wheel even if a circuit supplying the drive current to a motor or a position sensor detecting the steering position of the steering wheel is failed. SOLUTION: In the steer-by-wire system 10, usually, the amount of rotation and the direction of rotation of a rotor 60 are changed by controlling the drive current to a DC motor 50 with a brush according to the operation of the steering wheel 11, and the steered wheel 30 can be turned according to the operation of the steering wheel 11 thereby. Additionally, in case of abnormality, a brush holding housing 53 provided in the DC motor 50 with the brush is turned relative to a magnetic field holding housing 52 accompanied by the operation of the steering wheel 11, the amount of rotation and the direction of the rotor 60 are changed by the change of the relative position between the magnetic field 54 and brushes 55, 56, and the steered wheel 30 can be turned according to the operation of the steering wheel 11 thereby.
