PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To implement a controller having a variety of control functions in a distributed control system. SOLUTION: The controller is configured with a plurality of processors that perform numerical operations, sequence operations, neural network (NN) computing, fuzzy reasoning, and the like. The controller is miniaturized using LSI technology. Further, flexibility is increased by making processor function and I/O function programmable. Standard programs capable of simple programming and a learning model like NN are incorporated, and a plurality of computed outputs are weighted and added to generate output data. Additionally, the weighting value is updated by learning. Thus, the distributed control system and the controller for use in it are implemented, having a variety of control functions, such as numerical operation control, sequence control, NN applied control, fuzzy applied control, and the like.
