PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for sealing the air hole of a hollow container which can prevent the generation of a burning odor during the sealing treatment and seal the air hole surely without spending a time for sealing the air hole and an apparatus for the method. SOLUTION: Before heating by a contact-heating unit 20, preliminary heating is carried out to increase the temperature of the opening 102 of a blow hole 101 to a temperature region where a raw material resin is softened below its melting point by a non-contact-heating unit 10.
