Each ceramic or sintered metal filter plate has a central orifice 5, Fig. 3; a central bearing portion 4 is provided on one face and, extending outwardly therefrom to the periphery, nearradial ribs 3 of the same height; a peripheral bearing portion is provided on the opposite face and, extending inwardly therefrom to the central orifice, near-radial ribs of the same height. The plates are stacked in facing pairs, Fig. 4, so that liquid passes, from 18, inwards between ribs 3, then upwards and downwards through the plates into the region bounded by contacting peripheral bearing portions, then between the ribs on these surfaces to the central orifices 5, and then out at 19.</p> |
