PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metallocene compound providing a method for preparing a cycloolefin copolymer by which a chemically homogeneous copolymer is provided in higher space time yield based on the polymerization through a double bond, and the effects of a reaction parameter on the chemical uniformity of a product are smaller than those by a conventional method even if the reaction parameter is changed; and to provide a catalyst. SOLUTION: One embodiment of the invention is the metallocene compound having a specific chemical structure, and another embodiment is the catalyst for producing the cycloolefin copolymer, comprising the metallocene compound and a cocatalyst component.
