<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which preliminarily sets the relation between operation modes and security levels, detects the security level of the operation mode selected by a user, and requires inputting of different authentication information from the user by the detected level. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with a first authentication information input means for the user to input biological information, a first authenticating means for carrying out authentication of the user on the basis of the inputted biological information, a second authentication information input means for inputting authentication information other than the biological information, and a second authenticating means for carrying out authentication of the user on the basis of the inputted authentication information. The image forming apparatus with a plurality of the operation modes has a judging means for judging by the set operation mode whether or not a use permission of the image forming apparatus is made by only the authentication by the first authenticating means, or by the authentication of both of the first authenticating means and the second authenticating means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
