PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recorder that can maintain the running cost without lowering the productivity and can control forming of an image by readily and precisely detecting a defective ejection nozzle without bothering a user. SOLUTION: This image recorder 30A comprises a memory medium 20 for storing input image data, an image forming means for forming an image on a recording medium 2 by ejecting ink from a recording head 1 according to the image data, and an image reading section 5 for reading the output image formed on the recording medium 2. The image recorder 30A further comprises an image evaluating section 24 for comparing input image data stored in the memory medium 20 with an output image data read by the image reading section 5 and a control section 6 for controlling the recording head 1 based on the output of the image evaluating section 24.
