The tool, for use in butchery, consists of a handle (3) that has a cylindrical rod (2) extending from it. The rod is made from a plastic material that is sufficiently supple for it to bend and follow the curves in a spinal canal as the cord material is pushed out. The end of the rod furthest from the handle is circular in section and has a slightly concave tip, and the handle is cylindrical in shape and of greater diameter than the rod. A set of three tools with rods of different diameters could be supplied in a shallow elongated tank in which they could be stored, cleaned and disinfected.
