Disclosed is a cylinder head gasket for an internal combustion engine, comprising at least two superimposed sealing metal sheets (3, 4, 5, 7, 8) which form a common combustion chamber passage opening and at least one of which is provided with a bead that surrounds the combustion chamber passage port. One (4) of the sealing metal sheets projects from the at least one other sealing metal sheet (3, 5, 7, 8) at the outer periphery and supports an encompassing seal (6) at the outer edge thereof. Said seal (6) seals the gap between the cylinder head (1) and the cylinder block (2) in the mounted state of the cylinder head gasket. Preferably, the seal protrudes from the outer surface of the cylinder block in the mounted state of the cylinder head gasket such that water that drips down from the seal does not come in contact with the outer surface of the cylinder block. |
