PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that an oil and fat adsorbent by the production method of slurry slip casting, drying, baking, crushing and classifying using sawdust as a combustible material used to result in a random shape, an uneven size, a measuring problem, generation of powder and high cost. SOLUTION: In this production method for the oil and fat adsorbent, inorganic raw material powder, a binder, a combustible material of fine particles, a combustible material of fine grains of low compressive deformation and water are kneaded, and a kneaded body is compressed and extruded with an extruding machine to extrude and mold a cylinder of several millimeter diameter as well as to cut it. The cut molding is dried and baked, and the two types of the combustible materials are fired and made to disappear to produce a porous baked material having numerous large and small pores. This oil and fat adsorbent adsorbs the oil and fat at large and small fine pores 5, 5a of the adsorbent 1 and make them penetrate to inside at continuous pores 5, 5a thereby to clean exhaust gas as well as to promote a long lasting of use, and further, prevents the generation of powder by arranging the shape and size of the adsorbent by extraction molding and thereby equalizing the space between neighboring adsorbents 1, the adsorbent ratio and the ventilating resistance.
