PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wound core manufacturing apparatus capable of manufacturing a wound core of small inner diameter, by making up for the deficiency in the strength of an arcuate segment of a cantilever structure having an enlarging/contracting mechanism. SOLUTION: When a band material block 3 is wound around a segment drum S having a proximal end supported by an enlarging/contracting mechanism K, a tip section H of a plurality of arcuate segments 1 constituting the segment drum S is supported by a support shaft 7 from the inside. A wound core M can be removed from the segment drum S by releasing the support by the supporting shaft 7. Since strength of the segment drum S can be ensured by an opposite end support mechanism, thickness T of the arcuate segment 1 can be decreased, and a small diameter wound core M can be manufactured by reducing the size of the segment drum S. When a multiple step cylindrical shaft or a conical shaft, capable of varying the outer diameter arbitrarily, is employed as the support shaft 7, the segment drum S can be fitted to a predetermined winding diameter.
