PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for controlling a fusing temperature of a fuser unit or a fan speed of a carrier vapor processing unit, which are improved in the efficiency of power consumption.

SOLUTION: The apparatus for controlling the temperature of the fuser unit for use in an image forming apparatus includes memory parts (208b and 208c) for storing the reference value of the fusing temperature by toner coverage in the fixed area of received data; a fusing temperature determining part (208a) for computing the toner coverage in the fixed area and determining the fusing temperature, corresponding to the computed toner coverage based on the reference value stored in the memory parts; and a heater part (303) controlled by the fusing temperature determining part and varying the temperature of the fuser unit to the determined fusing temperature.
