PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for stably producing (meth)acrylic acid or (meth)acrolein in high yield even if a stable operation is carried out by feeding the maximum feed amount of a raw material acceptable for a reactor or an amount near to the amount in the method for producing the (meth)acrylic acid or the (meth)acrolein by carrying out a vapor-phase catalytic oxidation reaction with an oxygen-containing gas by using at least one kind of a material to be oxidized selected from propylene, propane, isobutylene and (meth)acrolein as the raw material, and using a multitubular reactor. SOLUTION: The method for producing the (meth)acrylic acid or the (meth)acrolein involves keeping the fed amount of the raw material per unit time at≥30% and <80% of the allowable maximum feed amount for at least 20 hr or more after the time when the feeding amount of the raw material per unit time reaches≥30% of the allowable maximum feed amount of the raw material per unit time when starting up the reaction.
