PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently monitor contents and to substantially expand a storage capacity. SOLUTION: This video data synthesizer 100 includes a first area of a hard disk drive 134 for storing a plurality of video data, a MPEG decoder 136 for reading two or more of the video data from the first area, a scaler 138 for converting either of the video data read by the MPEG decoder 136 to the converted data in which the size of the video image reduced to one sixteenth, a stream memory 140 for synthesizing the video data so that the video image which is displayed by the converted data can be displayed on a part that occupies the range of one sixteenth of the video image displayed by the video data other than the converted data, a second area of the hard disk drive 134 for storing the synthesized data synthesized by the stream memory 140, and a system control circuit 110 for controlling the hard disk in such a way as to delete the video data used for the synthesis of the synthesized data by the stream memory 140 when the second area stores the synthesized data.
