PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily recognize contents of a reproduced image during special reproduction. SOLUTION: In this recording device, which records a moving picture signal outputted from an imaging means on many tracks formed on a magnetic tape by encoding the signal by an MPEG system, a portion of frames among the moving picture signals before the encoding are extracted and additional image information is put together with a moving picture signal of the extracted frames to generate an image signal for special reproduction, which are recorded at a predetermined position on many tracks.
