The method involves downstream transmission of electronic data from a feed to user interfaces of one or all segments via the cable connection, producing local electronic data for distribution to at least one user interface in a local segment and electronic downstream transmission data for transmission in a high frequency band in an upper region of a cable transmission bandwidth. User data are processed into upstream transmission data. The method involves downstream transmission of electronic data from a feed point to at least some of the user interfaces of one or all segments via the cable connection. A processing device produces local electronic data for distribution to at least one user interface in a local segment and electronic downstream transmission data for transmission in a high frequency band in an upper region of a transmission bandwidth of the cable connection. User data are processed into upstream transmission data.
