There is provided a meta data conversion device for conversion into meta data matched with the intension of a content provider when creating meta data for viewing a digest or when selecting segmentation meta data. The meta data conversion device includes: a meta data database for storing meta data; a use condition input unit for inputting the use condition for converting the meta data; a scene section information input unit for inputting the scene section information for converting the meta data; a meta data converting unit for converting the meta data selected by using the use condition or scene section information into meta data matched with the intension of the content provider; and a meta data use/reproduction unit for reproducing the content by using the converted meta data.
