The disc brake shoe (2,3) has a friction surface designed to contact a brake rotor, whereby the friction material of the surface is applied to a supporting backing plate which has torque transmitting outer face sections arranged so that they can act upon a torque reaction surface of a brake, and a radial outer face section is arranged so that it acts upon a radial support face of the brake. The support faces are symmetrical to a symmetry axis which is equidistant from the torque transmitting surfaces. The brake shoe has an axis which extends normally to the friction surface. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a disc brake with the proposed brake shoe; and (b) a disc brake sub-assembly including a brake with the proposed brake shoe.
