PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing apparatus capable of preventing hot offset and curling of a regular-sized recording paper due to the local temperature rise of a heat roller when receiving demands of printing on the regular-sized recording paper just after letting a small-sized recording paper through, and also, capable of saving power consumption. SOLUTION: A main heater 391a and a sub heater 391b are arranged inside the heat roller, and when the surface temperature of the axial center part of the heat roller is equal to a 1st fixation set temperature TS1, the small-sized recording paper P having a paper-passing extent D smaller than a paper passing extent F corresponding to the heat distribution characteristics of the main heater is made to pass through, and when instructions to print on the regular-sized recording paper is received just after that, the current-carrying to the main heater and the sub heater is interrupted by an equipment control part, and when the surface temperature of the axial center part of the heat roller reaches a 2nd fixation set temperature TS2, a control of current-carrying to the main heater and the sub heater is restarted, and the surface temperature is returned to the 1st fixation set temperature, thereafter, the fixing apparatus is controlled so that the regular-sized recording paper left as it is may pass through.
