PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical magnetic recording medium wherein the expansion of magnetic flux from a recording head is suppressed, side erase and the like are suppressed, an S/N ratio is enhanced and high recording density can be obtained, and to provide a magnetic storage device and a manufacturing method of the vertical magnetic recording medium. SOLUTION: The vertical magnetic recording medium has a substrate 11, and a soft magnetic backing layer 12, a magnetic flux narrowing layer 13, an intermediate layer 14, a recording layer 15 and the like which are successively layered on the substrate 11. In the magnetic flux narrowing layer 13, soft magnetic parts 13a are formed along track regions 15a where information is recorded in the recording layer 15 and the soft magnetic parts 13a adjacent to each other are isolated by non-magnetic parts 13b, respectively. The magnetic flux MF from a magnetic pole 20 of the recording head is narrowed by the soft magnetic parts 13a and concentrated in the recording layer 15 at the time of recording, and crystal orientation and the crystallinity of crystal particles of the recording layer 15 growing on the intermediate layer 14 are improved by forming the intermediate layer 14 between the magnetic flux narrowing layer 13 and the recording layer 15.
