PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the unnecessary power consumption of a projecting light source in a projector. SOLUTION: A projector part 20 can project an image to be displayed on an image displaying display 30 to a screen 40 or the like. The projector part 20 has a distance measuring means for measuring a distance up to the screen 40 and controls the quantity of projecting light in accordance with the distance measurement result of the distance measuring means. When a projecting distance is short, projection can be performed by reducing the projecting light quantity, so that the power consumption of a portable terminal can be suppressed. In addition, the automatic focus control of a projection lens and the automatic focus control of an image pickup lens of a camera can be performed by using the distance measurement result.
