PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio communication apparatus and a radio communication method in which communication via a repeater or direct communication with a communicating party without interposing the repeater can be appropriately switched by discrimination based on the attribute of the communicating party, and further, efficient communication can be performed with a channel access scheme corresponding to the communication via the repeater and the communication without interposing the repeater. SOLUTION: Whether it is communication via a repeater including a function of repetition with the other apparatus or direct communication with a communicating party without interposing the repeater is discriminated based on the attribute of the communicating party, and communication is performed using a different channel access scheme corresponding to the discrimination.
