PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laminator capable of beautifully finishing the lamination treatment to a medium to be recorded without performing end edge treatment using a tool or the like in a separate process after the lamination treatment of the medium to be recorded. SOLUTION: In a lamination method for forming a laminate layer on the recording surface of a sheetlike medium to be recorded, a laminate material is bonded to the medium to be recorded and a means to be transferred under heating and pressure in a state that the medium to be recorded is interposed between a sheetlike laminate material, wherein a laminate layer for laminating the recording surface is formed to a region wider than the planar surface of the medium to be recorded, and a means to be transferred for transferring the laminate layer so that the recording surface is opposed to the medium to be recorded. After a predetermined time is elapsed after the bonding under heating and pressure, the medium to be recorded having the laminate layer closely bonded thereto and the means to be transferred are relatively moved the surface on the side opposite to the recording surface and the means to be transferred are spaced apart from each other.
