PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compensate variation of a property caused by secular change or the like using a position sensor having simple constitution in an adjustment method of the position sensor detecting a position of an objective lens to irradiate an optical disk with light. SOLUTION: At the reference time, a position of an objective lens (16) and an output of a position sensor (22) are measured, a ratio of a neutral point is obtained, at the time of using the apparatus, a position of the objective lens (16) and an output of the position sensor (22) are measured, and an output level of the neutral point is calculated from a measured result and the neutral point ratio. Since the neutral point level of the objective lens can be adjusted even if the lens position sensor having simple constitution is used, stable lens position detection can be performed for secular change or the like.
