PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal printer which can avoid effects to printing by a no-load voltage under instable control. SOLUTION: A heating element is turned ON by applying a driving pulse (S105). After 250 microseconds have passed (S107: YES), a voltage applied to a thermal head is acquired from a voltage measuring part (S109). When the value is equal to a previous voltage value (S111: YES), a previous voltage variation coefficient C (V) is used as it is. If the voltage is larger than the previous voltage value (S113: YES), a voltage value (AD value) of the present voltage variation coefficient C (V) is incremented by one, and C (V+1) is substituted for C (V) (S115). If the value is smaller than the previous voltage value (S113: NO), the voltage value (AD value) of the present voltage variation coefficient C (V) is decremented by one, and C (V-1 ) is substituted for C (V) (S119). The obtained voltage variation coefficient C (V) is subtracted from an application control coefficient C, and an application energy is re-evaluated (S117). COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
