PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline water generator for preventing the generated alkaline water from moving on a concentrated liquid side due to the osmotic pressure. SOLUTION: A storage chamber 22 inside of a container body 10 is provided with a tank 12 which has an anode chamber 24 for storing the concentrated liquid, a pump 14, and a water circulation passage 16. A part of the side wall of the tank 12 is constituted of an ion-exchange membrane 30, and the circulation passage 16 and the anode chamber 24 are sectioned by the ion-exchange membrane 30. An anode 36 is provided in the anode chamber 24 inside of the tank 12, and a cathode 38 is provided inside of the circulation passage 16. The pump 14 is actuated to energize the anode 36 and the cathode 38, thereby drinking water in the storage chamber 22 is passed through the circulation passage 16 by the pump 14, and is changed into alkaline water at a position contacting with the ion-exchange membrane 30 and returned to the storage chamber 22. When the pump 14 stops the operation, water is not present in the position of the ion-exchange membrane 30 inside the circulation passage 16, thus preventing the trouble of entering the water in the concentration liquid inside the anode chamber 24 due to the osmotic pressure.
