The invention relates to a composition comprising at least 80% baking soda, less than 20% soda salt and less than 1% ammonia salts. The composition is prepared by subjecting the ammonia acid carbonate to a thermal treatment, at a temperature ranging between 20 C and 150 C, for selectively decomposing the ammonia salts. The obtained composition is used for treating the roast gases or as a forming agent, for the detergent compositions.
