<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control apparatus, and a control method for the control apparatus not only operating the control apparatus by electric power consumption by using an auxiliary power source during a power failure, but also capable of securing safety of data anomaly or the like during the power failure. <P>SOLUTION: Program ROM data of a CPU operating the control apparatus during a power failure is copied on a RAM during rising of a normal power source. The CPU operates on the program ROM data copied on the RAM during a power failure. Then, the auxiliary power source connected to a flash ROM is cut off. A sum check is carried out in a constantly passing portion while operating the program ROM data copied on the RAM.
