PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic detector which fixes magnetization for a fixed magnetic layer by uniaxial anisotropy of the fixed magnetic layer itself and can increase coercive force of the fixed magnetic layer. SOLUTION: A non-magnetic layer 32 which increases coercive force of the fixed magnetic layer 23 is provided opposite to the side wherein a non-magnetic material layer 24 of the fixed magnetic layer 23 is formed. The concrete material of the non-magnetic layer is Cu, for example. Since the coercive force Hc of the fixed magnetic layer 23 can be increased by the constitution, magnetization inversion of the fixed magnetic layer 23 can be suppressed properly even if mechanical stress is generated. Furthermore, it is possible to properly suppress lowering of a sheet resistance value (Rs) by reducing shunt loss together with the increase of the coercive force Hc of the fixed magnetic layer 23 by properly adjusting the film thickness of the non-magnetic layer 32.
