PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic transmission control device improving drive feeling by prohibiting worthless downshifting in deceleration of a vehicle. SOLUTION: The automatic transmission control device comprises: a transmission control means for transmission to a gear speed determined to be a minimal fuel consumption rate within a range where the vehicle does not stall; a shift transmission prohibiting means calculating necessary torque required for stopping the deceleration of the vehicle and keeping a present vehicle speed by adding a sufficient torque for preventing stall of the vehicle to present output torque when the deceleration of the vehicle is detected, and prohibiting the shift transmission of the shift transmission control means when the necessary torque is smaller than maximum torque in present engine revolution speed.
