The device has a cap (1) that closes an opening (60) of a container (22) and is connected to an applicator unit (3) e.g. tuft of bristles, by a retractable rod and an elastic helicoidal spring (7). The unit (3) is stopped against an inner wall of the container. The spring is restrained elastically upon the engagement of the unit (3) with the inner wall. The unit (3) has axial compressibility lesser than that of the spring. An independent claim is also included for utilization of a cosmetic product packaging and applying device.
