<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner capable of switching cooling/heating operation with an efficient and compact structure. <P>SOLUTION: In the air conditioner, a closed space α is formed by using a condenser 7, an evaporator 9 and two centrifugal fans 10, 10'. Separation position of a switching separation wall 12 for separating the closed space α into two parts is changed so that two separated spaces α<SB>1</SB>, α<SB>2</SB>are formed at the time of cooling and two separated spaces α<SB>3</SB>, α<SB>4</SB>are formed at the time of heating. At the time of cooling, air passes through the evaporator 9 and is sucked to the separated space α<SB>1</SB>and the air cooled down by the evaporator 9 is blown by using the centrifugal fan 10.
