PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ophthalmic agent compounded with pranoprofen, free from precipitation and clouding troubles even by using chlorobutanol as an antiseptic agent and stably holding chlorobutanol over time. SOLUTION: This ophthalmic agent is produced by (a) a step to dissolve pranoprofen by adjusting the pH to≥6.5 with a pH adjuster to obtain an aqueous solution of pranoprofen, (b) a step to add a water-soluble polymer, a sugar, a sugar alcohol or their aqueous solution to the aqueous solution of pranoprofen and homogeneously mixing the mixture, (c) a step to adjust the pH of the aqueous solution obtained by the step (b) to≥5 and≤6.5 with a pH adjuster, and (d) a step to add chlorobutanol to the aqueous solution obtained by the step (c).
