PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet printer capable of supplying a predetermined head drive voltage to each print head while decreasing the number of voltage supply lines between the printer body and a carriage and reducing the weight of the carriage circuit section. SOLUTION: The ink jet printer comprises a printer body arranged with a main power supply, a carriage arranged to reciprocate with respect to a recording sheet while mounting one or a plurality of ink jet heads, a cable for connecting the main power supply electrically with the ink jet heads, wherein a voltage converting section for creating a head drive voltage of each ink jet head from a voltage being supplied from the main power supply is provided on the printer body side and the carriage side, respectively, and the main power supply, the printer body side voltage converting section, the carriage side voltage converting section, and the print head are connected in series.
