PHOSPHOR AND LIGHT EMITTING DEVICE USING THE SAME, LIGHTING DEVICE, AND IMAGE DISPLAYING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide red or white color phosphor having high color rendering properties and a light emitting device having high color rendering properties and high luminescence intensity by combining the phosphor with a stimulation source which emits the light of 350 to 430 nm.

SOLUTION: The phosphor has a specific chemical composition and a crystal phase, for example, the phosphor has the crystal phase of an alkaline earth metal silicates comprising one or more elements selected from a group comprising Ba, Sr, Ca and Mg, wherein the crystal phase satisfies specific requirements in X ray diffraction measurement using CuKα X-ray source. The light emitting device comprises a combination of the phosphor with a light source for irradiating 350-430 nm light.
