Cosmetic and/or dermatological compositions contain one or more of the following: (a) proteinogenic oxygen carriers in liposomized form native or modified human, cattle, sheep, horse or recombinant myoglobin; (b) modified human, porcine, bovine or recombinant hemoglobin; (c) native or modified human or recombinant hexacoordinated neuroglobin and/or cytoglobin; and (d) synthetic iron-containing proteinogenic oxygen carriers.
