Among other findings, the invention is based on the identification that p14 peptide is expressed in mammary carcinoma cells harboring MMTV. Thus, the invention provides methods for diagnosing breast cancer in subjects comprising determining the levels of expression of the peptide or the levels of anti-p14 antibodies produced in the subject to the peptide. The invention also provides screening methods of individuals with high probability of having breast cancer as well as to therapeutic methods; pharmaceutical compositions and vaccine making use of the anti-p14 antibodies or p14 peptides or produced thereby. |
