The heater has a heat distribution plate (3) made of a non-corrosive steel for heating liquid. A surface of the plate that is turned to heat the liquid, is provided with a lye resistant and lime rejecting finish/layer. Refinement of the surface is carried out through polishing and/or oxidization. The plate is designed such that edges of the surface align with edges of an inner surface of a section in a lye container. The coating of the surface is carried out with a super smooth hydride polymer. An independent claim is also included for a water-carrying household machine comprising an electric heater.
