PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To photograph only a necessary part as a file out of a long time duration when the moving image is photographed. SOLUTION: When a shutter button 101 is pressed down for starting moving-image photography, a CPU 1 of the digital still camera provides a header at the record starting position of a memory medium 20, writes a record starting position, and starts to write the moving image data in the memory medium 20. When a pause button 102 is pressed down, the recording operation to the memory medium 20 is halted, and when the pause button 102 is pressed down again, the moving data is started to be written in the memory medium 20. When the shutter button 101 is pressed down again; the writing of moving image in the memory medium 20 is stopped, a moving image record finishing position is written to the header of the memory medium 20, and the wiring of the moving image is completed as a file.
