PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scroll type fluid machine with a simple structure in which a fixed scroll is secured to a housing without using bolts. SOLUTION: The scroll type fluid machine includes a scroll unit 52 contained in the housing 20 and having a movable scroll 54 and the fixed scroll 56, and a discharge chamber 80 defined between a base plate 56b of the fixed scroll 56 and an inner surface of the housing 20. The base plate 56b of the fixed scroll 56 is provided with a projection 88 which is integrally formed to project toward the inner surface of the housing 20 so as to come in contact with a projection (protrusion) 94 of the inner surface in an airtight manner, thereby forming part of a seal peripheral wall 78 for the discharge chamber 80.
