PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To previously prevent a fire accident of a fixing belt to secure safety in a fixing device using the fixing belt or an image forming apparatus provided with the fixing device. SOLUTION: The fixing device 100 for fixing an image on a sheet (recording medium) 22 passing the fixing nip is provided with an induction heating source 66, the fixing belt 30 for induction-heating by the induction heating source, and a pressure roller (opposite member) 70 for forming a fixing nip with the fixing belt. The fixing device comprises a temperature detection member 43 arranged oppositely to the induction heating source 66 by sandwiching the fixing belt 30 to be in contact with the fixing belt, and a control means 67 for controlling the induction heating source on the basis of the detected temperature of the temperature detection member.
