PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polishing method of a metal ring for an endless belt of an continuously variable transmission capable of precisely polishing the side end edge of the metal ring to a desired shape without being influenced by the wear of a polishing brush. SOLUTION: The polishing method has a polishing process polishing the side end edge of the metal ring W by a rotating polishing brush 2. In the polishing process, when the polishing brush 2 abuts on the metal ring W, the load current value of a motor rotate-driving the polishing brush 2 is detected, and the cut depth of the polishing brush 2 to the metal ring W is increased/decreased so that the detected load current value becomes the predetermined load current value.
